In Memory

Henry P. Scaia, age 94, of New Hope, passed away from pneumonia in the Palliative Care Unit of North Memorial Hospital on Sunday, Nov.6, 2016.

Henry was born in Chisholm, MN in 1922. He served in the US Army in Korea during WWII, then resumed his education at St. Cloud Teacher’s College and U of ND. They started their married lives teaching in Newberry and Escanaba, MI, then Brainerd, MN, and finally joined the rapidly growing Robbinsdale School District 281. He took great pride serving as an elementary principal at Forest, Sonnesyn, and New Hope schools, and treasured the wonderful staffs, students, and parents he worked with. He retired in 1986.

Henry welcomed and reached out to people of all ages and cultures. He was loved and respected, and was a wonderful role model for his family. He gave generously of his time to North Hennepin Kiwanis, as a founding member and leader of Church of the Epiphany, and to family and friends.

He is preceded in death by daughter, Andrea, brother, Virgil, and parents, Peter and Mary.

I am saddened to post that my dad, Ron Chagnon, passed away Monday, September 12, after an extended illness. He was 83. Thanks so much to all who have sent their love and... support to my family and me.

The funeral will be held this Friday, September 16th at 11 a.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Brooklyn Park, MN.

There will be a visitation at the church an hour before the service, and there will a luncheon following the service.

Dad's students meant the world to him and he enjoyed seeing many of you over the years. We welcomed me everyone to the funeral, and we ask that you please refrain from wearing black, since we would like the service to be a celebration, in keeping with how he strove to live his life.
